Christmas and the holidays: how to get everything done and do you really need to?

Getting everything done is an illusion. Let’s acknowledge that.
The end of the year is not a life deadline — it’s just a date on the calendar. On a subconscious level, we try to close all work loose ends, be perfect for our families, and create the “right” holiday.

A holiday is not an exam or a report to anyone. It is, in fact, a perfect time to slow down.
Trying to do everything often leads to burnout, irritation, and the feeling that the holiday has passed you by.

Let’s set priorities!
And this is not about a to-do list — it’s about a list of values. Ask yourself:

  • What matters more to me: a perfect table or peace of mind?
  • People or the script?
  • Experiences or checkmarks?

Ideally, divide everything into three categories:
Essential (without this, it would really be bad),
Optional (only if you have the energy),
Non-essential (let it go and forget it).

Where does the fear of “not leaving things for next year” come from? Toward the end of the year, it often intensifies. It feels like unfinished business or missed opportunities — but that’s not true. Life doesn’t reset on January 1, and tasks don’t “expire” overnight.

It’s very important to allow yourself to enjoy the holidays. Be here and now.
A wonderful 2026 is ahead. This is the time to breathe out, reset, and enjoy the moment.

The RevDuck team wishes you happy holidays and truly hopes you’ll be able to recharge and jump back into work refreshed in January.
